Video: Blast from the past as Newey drives McLaren F1 car he designed

One of the most successful F1 car designers of all time, Adrian Newey, got the opportunity to drive one of the McLarens he created.

Newey is credited with playing a key role in 10 Constructors’ Championship titles and seven Drivers’ Championships across three teams: Williams, McLaren and Red Bull.

The 63-year-old also holds a racing license, and has become increasingly familiar with older-generation F1 cars, having taken part in demonstrations for Red Bull.

In a special video feature, Newey is interviewed by Jodie Kidd and is reunited with the Leyton House CG901 (the first F1 team he worked for) from 1990, and the McLaren MP4/19 from 2004, taking both cars for a spin.
